How to convert JPG to PNG online

Some editors, print shops, and asset pipelines prefer PNG even when the source is a photograph. Converting JPG to PNG gives you a lossless container for the pixels you already have — useful before further edits that would otherwise re-compress JPEG repeatedly.

Upload a JPG (or PNG) file. ImgKit loads it into a canvas and exports a PNG download. Check the new file size; expect growth on complex photos because PNG is not optimized for continuous-tone compression the way JPEG is.

Remember that JPG artifacts already in the source remain after conversion. If you need a smaller deliverable again later, convert back to JPG or use the compressor tool once editing is finished.

Frequently asked questions

Does JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. Converting cannot restore detail lost in the original JPEG compression. PNG simply stores the current pixels without adding another lossy step.
Will the file get larger?
Often yes. PNG is lossless, so photo-like content usually grows compared with a compressed JPG. That tradeoff is useful when you need a stable master for editing.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Conversion runs locally with the Canvas API. Closing the tab discards the in-memory preview.
